I am a daily bike rider and amazed by the high level of use these trails get - always promptly cleaned after storms, and such wide paths! I would love to have connectivity so I can so more than my 24 miler - or a group that shows us how the trail system connects - I'm not the best visual map reader. Without these trails I simply wouldn't ride daily!

As a bicycle commuter, I strongly support creating a connected network of safe, wide, multi-use trails that serves transportation as well as recreation. Today, gaps between existing trails often force cyclists and e-bike riders into busy vehicle traffic just to reach the next segment.
Closing these gaps and connecting trails to schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and neighboring cities would make active transportation safer and more practical, reduce short car trips, and create a true regional mobility network rather than a collection of disconnected recreational paths.

@Christopher Lloyd I agree, closing the gaps would allow people (especially younger kids out on their bikes) to avoid roads that have six lanes of traffic.

The current trail system has great connections on the northwest area of town with the trails in Mckinney. The southwest side needs more connections to Plano and the east side needs connections. The issue with using the current trails for overall transportation is areas where the trails end on a major street. The City needs to look at those connections and either enhance the sidewalks or add bike lanes. Getting off the trails on our major streets is very dangerous.

I think there's a lot of emphasis on trails in Allen. Trails are nice. Its nice if they connect. How many residents actually use the trails? Are we catering to a very small number, outside residents, or Groups outside of Allen that create influence who sway our elected officials with promises of positive Public Relations? Why is this a focus and not affordability and lowering taxes? Allen has become unaffordable for the average family.

Mobility on our trails is enhanced when we have connections on our trail system in strategic locations that allow for us to create natural routes that are more likely to be used. Where these connections do not exist, or are not added, then it reduces the use of some portions of the trail system.

We should aspire to be able to ask the question when needing to go somewhere in Allen, "Do I really have to take the Car?". A well planned and well connected Trail System will give us viable and healthier options.
