Trail Updates

From "Allen 2045: Comprehensive Plan Update"

Go to the project

In reference to the comments on trails, YES I agree we need to make sure that this town has safe bicycling passages. Major trail connection points seem to have stalled out and remained that way for years and years. For example, the connection on the south side of watters creek connecting to the Bluebonnet Trail by the Golf Course. Will this connection ever get finished in a timely manner or has it been forgotten completely? Could we put a pedestrian bridge over the highway here since this project has been stalled (seemingly by the golf course there in Plano?) for so long? Why are they delaying the project? (if they are?)

The old dart rail that has been decommissioned yet pieces still remain in place overgrown with brush and unpassable....would it be possible to explore building a multi-use pedestrain/bicycle path that follows this route since the rail is no longer in use? Could this be expanded north and south?

Another area of walking/biking trail that needs repairs is Mcdermott road between Highway 75 EAST to Greenville Road. the sidewalk is deteriorating rapidly. Look at Downtown Plano and see how they made their sidewalks nice and wide and smooth and flat. Why can't we have that? Its truly an awful experience just riding a bicycle down this sidewalk with all of the hazards.
