Greengate's Entryway on Edelweiss Dr. (Completed August 2024)
The City of Allen’s Parks Department removed diseased red tipped photinia bushes along the alley adjacent to Allen Heights Dr. between Edelweiss Dr. and Petunia Dr. in the Spring of 2023. Following the removal, the Community Enhancement Department, in contract with Ratliff Hardscape, replaced the bushes with an 8 ft. vinyl fence, repaired brick on the monument signs, rebuilt the retaining walls on both sides of the entrance, updated the monument signage and made a sidewalk repair to provide more accessibility around a power pole that cannot be relocated. New bushes will be added on the southern side of the entry to fill in the existing gap in the Fall when the weather is conducive to planting. Visit the Greengate Project for more information.

The retaining walls at Pecan and Persimmons Courts were identified in 2021 as part of the discussion surrounding the Cottonwood Bend (Pilot) Project. Bethany Dr. Screening Walls (In-Progress)
The Community Enhancement Department in contract with Ratliff Hardscape is currently working to repair/replace three major sections of screening walls along Bethany Dr. as pictured below. This project is scheduled to begin in early September. Check back frequently for updates.
1. Heritage Park Stone Wall Replacement
Location: Bethany Dr. between 801 Hemingway Ct. and 800 Livingstone Dr.
Scope: This stone wall is currently 4 ft. in height and has damaged stone throughout. In some cases, the stones regularly make their way into the alley creating an obstacle to driving. This construction project will fully replace the portion of wall shown in yellow below with an 8ft. stone wall.
This project was identified in 2023 as part of the discussion surrounding the Heritage Park South Project.
2. Heritage Heights Brick Wall Replacement
Location: Bethany Dr. between 801 Kipling Dr. and 801 Heritage Ct.
Scope: This red brick wall currently has sagging panels, mismatched brick and the portion of brick along 801 Heritage Ct. was replaced with wood fencing years ago. This project seeks to bring consistency to the area by replacing the panels and wood fence with consistent brick panels as seen in yellow below. It will remain 6 ft. in height and reuse the existing columns.
This project was also identified in 2023 as part of the discussion surrounding the Heritage Park South Project. Although Heritage Heights is platted as a separate subdivision, after talking to residents, they indicated that they identify as part of Heritage Park, so the City included them in that process.
3. Cottonwood Bend North Monument Sign and Wall Improvement
Location: Bethany Dr. between Cottonwood Bend Dr. and Ashwood Dr.
Scope: This wall has been repaired several times over the years and has mismatched brick. In addition, the entryway signage is difficult to read when driving by. This project will make the wall more uniform and replace the entryway signage to match the Cottonwood Bend South signage across the street. In addition, a new monument sign will be installed at Ashwood Dr. to further identify the neighborhood. The location of the existing screening wall to be improved is shown in yellow below and the location of the new monument sign in green.
This project was identified in 2023 as part of the discussion surrounding the Cottonwood Bend North Project.
