Where We've Been
Beginning in February 2025, the Community Enhancement Department facilitated a Neighborhood Stabilization Initiative in Oak Hill that included a neighborhood survey, meeting, and block party. This launched our enhancement efforts, along with the Engineering Department, to share plans for improvements to waterlines, sidewalks and entryway features within the neighborhood. Tab #1 is dedicated to that process.

Waterlines & Sidewalk Updates - Fall 2026

Neighborhood Block Party - October 4, 2025
It was good to meet all the neighbors who came out to the block party. We had about 15 families attend with ages young and old. A huge THANK YOU to Greenville Oaks Church of Christ for partnering with Oak Hill and the City of Allen. They allowed us to host the block party on their campus south lawn. We could not have done this without their help. Also, our APPRECIATION to Allen PD and Code Compliance for attending and reaching out to Oak Hill residents.

Neighborhood Meeting - February 27, 2025
A BIG thank you to the 18 residents who attended the neighborhood meeting. If you were not able to attend or want a refresher, the presentation is attached below.
In summary, Staff from the Community Enhancement Department gave a brief presentation explaining what the department does, past neighborhood stabilization projects, and potential projects to be completed in the Oak Hill.
Visual Preference
We asked for feedback in two different areas: (1) signage style, and (2) sign graphics. Each resident was given three dots (votes) with instructions to vote their top preference for signage (one blue dot) and top two for graphics (two red dots). You can see the results below in the picture. Rustic style is preferred 2 to 1, and the top graphic won over the others by less of a margin. This was a good first step and will help City staff, along with additional input from the resident committee, to make the final selection.
Committee Volunteers
Four residents volunteered to serve on the resident committee. This is a good start, and we hope to capture a few more. This group will meet with City staff at key points to help plan a workday, block party, and provide feedback as the entryway project progress. This is an open group, so please feel free to reach out to enhancement@cityofallen.org and join in at any time.
Future Needs/Improvements
- Fence and overgrown trees causing visibility issues for traffic
- Fix potholes on White Oak
- Tree removal in several locations
- More lighting throughout; Add street lights on White Oak; Add street lights on Willow Oak (strip mall side)
- Bethany & Greenville - Businesses play loud music on weekends after 10pm, opens back door and noise carries into neighborhood; Need longer green arrow for left turn (turning north on Greenville), only one car gets to go. The light pattern changed & now more dangerous; People cutting through the alley behind strip mall to avoid the stop light at Bethany & Greenville; Speed around that corner of the alley (fence has been hit twice) - Scarlet Oak / Willow Oak
- Bethany & Jupiter - Need green 6 ft turn signal; Police red light enforcement on Bethany & Jupiter @ 6:30am; Speed limit is confusing - Eastbound has school zone & westbound does not
- New trees in yards
- ROW issues - Franchise utility pedestal repair; Telecommunication equipment is disrepair in Willow Oak alley; Utility pedestal set backs at alley; Utility pods in alley are damaged - cracked lids, missing lids
- Sidewalks uneven throughout on Willow Oak
- Sight & visibility issues in alleys at Greenville
- Speeding all the way down Willow Oak; speeding on English Oak; speeding on White Oak
-
Traffic uses neighborhood to cut corner and avoid light at Bethany & Jupiter
Neighborhood Survey (Pre-Public Meeting)
In January 2025, City staff invited all residents of Oak Hill to take our online survey before our neighborhood meeting in February. The online survey including two open ended questions:
- What is your neighborhood’s greatest asset?
- What could be done to make your neighborhood a better place to live?
