Current Project Updates

Leveraging off the process described on tab one, City staff used a combination of resident feedback and a physical assessment to create a long-term neighborhood improvement plan. Tab #2, “Current Project Updates,” provides updates on those items.

Waterline Project Construction Updates - May 2026 through Early 2027

This project is a partnership between the Engineering and Community Enhancement Departments. It addresses several of the “future needs/improvements” mentioned by residents in the neighborhood meeting and survey in February 2025. Specifically, tree removal, sidewalk improvements, and additional lighting throughout the neighborhood.

FAQs

Where is the funding coming from? The Purchasing Division advertised an Invitation for Bid #2026-2-33 & Jupiter/Oak Hill Water & Sanitary Sewer Replacement and opened on March 19, 2026, to Jupiter/Oak Hill Water & Sanitary Sewer Replacement. There were five responsive bids received. J&L Construction LLC had the lowest price proposal and calendar day bid while meeting the required work experience and receiving approval via reference checks.

The funding sources for this project include the Water and Sewer fund for $4,705,880 and 2023 Go Bonds for $530,720. The Capital Improvement Plan can be found on the City’s webpage.

Will my mailbox be replaced? Mailboxes will not be replaced. In the event of unexpected damage, the contractor will repair or replace mailboxes as needed.

Will all trees be removed in the right of way between the sidewalk and curb? Trees in the City’s Right-of-Way (ROW) will be removed and stumps ground to ensure the new sidewalks remain in good repair for as long as possible.

Who can I talk to if I recently paid to trim my trees located between the sidewalk and curb as the result of a Code Compliance notice? If you trimmed your trees in the City’s Right-of-Way (ROW) between the dates of January 13-May 8, 2026, please contact Erin Jones, Assistant Director of Community Enhancement, at 214-509-4176 or ejones@allentx.gov to discuss further.

Why are the sanitary sewer lines within Oak Hill not being replaced? The sanitary sewer line pipes are not in a condition that needs to be replaced.

Why is the water main on Bethany not being replaced? The water main on Bethany was replaced in 2003 and has not exceeded the life expectancy.
